After four cancelled trips this past year, it has been our prayer doors would once again open for us to travel to Uganda. While the team working in Uganda is doing an incredible job ministering to the children of AH, it is important for us to get our feet on the ground to see first hand the difference AH is making in the lives of the children and caregivers. It is important for accountability purposes and to make changes in the way we are doing things on the ground if needed. The culture of Uganda is much different than the US and we are always learning!
We began the day with getting a Covid test in Grand Rapids and thankfully both received negative tests! We are excited to be bringing a backpack bag for each sponsored child, which were originally sewn by 2 sponsored girls in Uganda, and then brought here to be filled with a T-shirt, toothbrush and toothpaste, pencil, and candy by the children at Hillcrest Church, in Hudsonville MI. The team in Uganda will give each child a bag at Christmas along with food for their family. The girls who sewed the bags recently took a course in tailoring so it was fun to support them in their new skill and use the bags they made to bless all of the other children.
Our flight in Grand Rapids left late and by the time we arrived in Washington, we only had 30 minutes until our flight to Brussels left. We were told it was a 19 minute walk to the gate. Thankfully we made it just before they closed the door. We are now on the plane in Brussels and ready to fly to Entebbe.
Please pray for our arrival in Uganda which will be around 11:30pm Uganda time. They require another Covid test for everyone before we can go through immigration.
Thank you for all of the prayers and encouraging messages prior to us leaving! We cannot wait to share the ways the Lord is at work in Uganda!
